Assistant Manager - Client Accounting

Manpower Malta, on behalf of our client a well-established professional services provider are seeking to recruit an Assistant Manager Client Accounting to join a dynamic and growing team. This is a client-facing role ideal for an experienced accounting professional with strong leadership and technical skills.

Reporting to the Client Accounting Managers, the successful candidate will manage a portfolio of clients, mentor junior team members, and contribute to the departments operational efficiency and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring high service standards, timely delivery of accounts, VAT returns, and audit support.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, addressing queries and participating in client meetings.
  • Supervise, mentor, and review the work of junior and senior team members, supporting their performance and development.
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance reviews within the team.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations including task allocation, workflow planning, and adherence to statutory deadlines.
  • Provide technical support on complex accounting and VAT matters, and ensure compliance with internal procedures and standards.
  • Collaborate with management on process improvement initiatives, internal communications, and quality assurance.
  • Contribute to internal training, knowledge sharing, and the development of published content on accounting matters.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of client accounting experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent).
  • Strong technical knowledge in financial reporting, reconciliations, and VAT.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), SAGE, and other accounting software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proven leadership, mentoring, and organisational abilities.
  • High level of integrity, detail orientation, and ability to work independently.
  • Client-focused, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
