IP & Fixed Networks Engineer
On behalf of our client, Manpower malta is seeking an IP & Fixed Networks Engineer.
The IP Network engineers are in charge of the whole IP network of the company. The IP Network provides end-to-end connectivity to the
organisations mission-critical fixed and cellular network elements, IT infrastructure, upstream service providers, enterprise customers
and other third-parties. The IP & Fixed Access network engineers focus specifically on the national network around Malta and Gozo
whose function is to backhaul mobile and fixed traffic from aggregation sites as well as provide corporate and residential fixed services.
Key Accountabilities and Activities:
- Lead the IP & Fixed Access Team in the design, testing, implementation, operation and maintenance of the company's Fixed Access Network and
CPEs. - Lead new Fixed Access projects and the configuration and operation of new & existing Fixed Access equipment such as OLTs. Mentor other
IP & FIxed networks engineers within the team on Fixed Access technologies. - Aid in IP Access projects and the design, testing, implementation, operation and maintenance of the company's IP Access Network
- Assist the IP Networks Manager in network capacity forecasts and planning of upgrades.
- Assist the IP Networks Manager in budget planning for the IP & Fixed network.
- Analyse statistics, logs and alarms from network monitoring systems to maintain network health and take preventive actions as appropriate.
- Collaborate with team members and other teams in operations and projects.
- Identify key areas of improvement.
- Automate repetitive tasks where appropriate using scripting techniques.
- Research and keep abreast on new technologies.
- Liaise with vendors and service providers as required.
- Upkeep of proper documentation.
- Participate in an on-call roster.
- Any other task assigned by the line manager
Minimum Requirements:
- Possession of a MQF level 6 qualification in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology.
- 3-5 years of experience working as a Network engineer preferably in a Service Provider environment.
- CCNA certification
- Excellent organisational, communication and troubleshooting skills.
- Willing to work in a team environment
- Eager to learn new competencies through both class-based and on the job training and research
Preferred Requirements:
- CCNP certification specializing in Routing and Switching or Service Provider.
- Technical skills in BGP, IP/MPLS, Linux and scripting languages.
