Health & Safety Officer - Food Industry
On Behalf of our Client, Manpower is seeking to recruit a H&S Officer.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- The selected candidate will report directly to the General Manager, duties include but not limited to.
- Taking accountability for delivering operational excellence through the Health and Safety department of the organization.
- Devise internal health and safety policies / strategies including but not limited to Safety Operational procedures.
- Carrying out all health and safety environment related activities in accordance with the companys business objectives and legal obligations.
- Identifying and, where appropriate, implementing new ways of working practices, introduction of safety equipment and processes to improve performance across various departments and business sites / outlets.
- To liaise with subcontracted health and safety officers and with site supervisors to ensure the all recommendations are being implemented and followed.
- Managing the investigation processes of all H&S issues.
- Monitoring and maintaining key performance indicators within the H&S department and in other group business sites so as to generate improvements.
- Liaising with the departmental teams to discuss changes in existing procedures, devising and implementing of new processes, and preparing annual internal H&S control audits.
- Undertaking spontaneous audits across multiple sites so as to ensure that the legal provisions of the Health and Safety Act are being adhered to, whilst taking the necessary corrective measures to any unconformities that may arise without undue delay.
- Establish a cordial and professional relationship with employees.
- Promote health and safety initiatives by creating a positive H&S culture ensuring active employee participation.
General Requirements
- Possess a Diploma / Degree level of education in Health and Safety.
- Previous experience within the Food Industry sector shall be considered an asset.
- Ideally be a registered competent person with the Maltese Occupational Health and Safety Authority.
- Strong communication skills in English both written and verbal.
- Have the ability to work under pressure.
- Possess multi-tasking, prioritizing and efficient time-management abilities.
- Systematic, orderly, forward-looking and attentive to detail.
- Ability to get accustomed swiftly to new working environments.
- Possess a can do attitude with a positive mindset
