Accounting Manager

On behalf of our client, Manpower Malta is looking for a proactive and detail-driven Accounting Manager to take the lead in delivering high-quality financial services to a diverse client portfolio. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, guide and grow a talented team, streamline processes, and build strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, managing and developing strong relationships.
  • Prepare and review client financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP/IFRS and regulatory standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of accountants, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee onboarding of new clients, ensuring smooth integration of financial records into internal systems.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Review clients bookkeeping, VAT returns, and payroll.
  • Coordinate external audits, liaising with auditors and ensuring follow-up on recommendations.
  • Support clients with budgeting and forecasting, including variance analysis and strategic insights.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure reliable reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant reporting and tax requirements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Oversee client accounting systems and software, ensuring accuracy and data security.
  • Work closely with other internal departments to deliver integrated service.
  • Review and validate employee timesheets.
  • Prepare and issue client invoices based on agreed contracts and approved work.
  • Participate in team performance management, including feedback and goal-setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; ACCA qualification required.
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory/managerial role, ideally in a client-servicing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple client priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible mindset; comfortable with changing needs and tight deadlines.
