Senior Financial Manager (P2P)

Manpower Malta are seeking a Senior Financial Manager on behalf of our client who operates in the FMCG sector.

Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Financial Manager leads the Analyst team in bringing together forward looking, value adding insights to support the Strategy setting and decision-making function of the Company's operational dimension. The Senior Financial Manager will act as a business advisor and partner, and will align to the business to provide quality financial insight and analysis.

Key Accountabilities

Team Management

  • Oversee the financial and cost accounting processes undertaken by the Analyst team
  • Develop junior Staff to secure proper succession plan and allow talent growth and adaptability.
  • Plan, assign and review the teams work. Support the Company's periodic performance objective setting and review cycle

Finished Goods item structure and maintenance

  • Responsible for the NPD, Finished Goods brief approval from a recipe perspective.
  • Responsible for recipe approval and recipe (BOM) maintenance in ERP
  • Responsible to ensure that routes and associate cost rates have been update in ERP by the Senior Financial Manager Operations
  • Responsible for the activation of the Finished Good code in ERP
  • Responsible for timely Finished goods cost roll up.

Raw and pack item creation and maintenance

  • Ensure that Raw material codes are created and maintained in a timely manner
  • Cost, approve and control Phase in Phase out process. For this purpose, ensure that material block codes are managed effectively.

Product costing and cost planning

  • Act as Finance partner to the Procurement function; understand drivers of material costs with a view to provide support in financial analysis, forecasts, simulations, MRP, & cost analysis to ensure supply chain cost optimization

Materials requirements, price control and Variance Analysis

  • Responsible for the standard costing process leading to the landed cost of Raw and Packing Materials
  • Responsible for the implementation and automation of existing & new company procedures related to sourcing of raw materials and associated usage processes.
  • Responsible for the continuous evaluation of purchase price variance & control. Collaborate with procurement and logistics to close gaps and to improve standards.

Material Usage Control

  • Responsible to ensure material usage is aligned to standard and to forecasts. Recommend and deliver actions to manage and improve material usage. Partner with operations to develop solutions to minimize waste and implement accordingly.

Conduct Innovation and Renovation Project Studies

  • Act as Finance partner to the Food Technology functions, provide support in financial analysis, forecasts, simulations, pricing, and NPD.
  • Provide the primary financial support to and challenge the New Product Development Innovation and Renovation process. Proactively contribute to preparation of complex projects.
  • Contribute to strategic modelling for new products-innovations and renovations
  • Analyse and challenge product portfolio to identify cost optimization opportunities; assist operations to identify and eliminate value degradation drivers and maximize the return on investment from Total trade spend (TTS).
  • Report on R&D expenditure, ensuring project sustainability, securing adequate funding.
  • Prepare and submit R&D ITCR declarations

Inventory Accounting control

  • Ensure stock levels are aligned with business requirements, including safety stock. Work towards stock loss minimization by controlling aged and expired stock.

Planning/budgeting/forecasting Annual & Cashflow

  • Responsible for the annual budgeting and forecasting of Material requirements and costing. Lead and co-ordinate with other departments to compile data and analysis leading to the budget/forecasts
  • Prepare and analyse cash flow requirements leading cash-flow requirements projections (both short and long term) for raw and pack material
  • Monitor actual expenditure against the budget and forecasts. Ensure alignment and analyse / report variances

Reporting and Decision support

  • Act as point of contact for top management to challenge, dispute & support initiatives such as cost saving projects. Provide financial analysis to the top management team to support achievement of financial goals.
  • Define reporting requirements and ensure alignment of such reports to business strategy. Develop reports to ensure clear visibility of key performance indicators and to support decision making.
  • Provide accurate, timely management and internal reporting for the procurement function. Assist the Finance and Control Manager by providing procurement related analysis leading to the budget and forecasts.
  • Identify and lead a continuous improvement and automation programme in line with the companys objectives and priorities. Ensure that material is procured in a cost-effective manner, within stipulated lead times and at the right quality
  • Champion data structure, policy & synergy between all business functions, leading standardised, aligned reporting across all user groups.
  • Collaborate with the Tax and Finance Management team as required.

Capital project accounting

  • Prepare Financial feasibilities and associated studies to evaluate the Companys Asset investment projects. Provide detailed information to support the respective Committee decision making process

Coordinate enterprise risk management activities and Monitor controls compliance

  • Support the CFO and the Finance and Compliance Manager to maintain a robust framework of policies and procedures and be accountable for compliance across the Company. Support the execution and management of the Company risk register
  • Lead the risk management process ensuring adequate activities to identify financial and business risks & mitigate accordingly.
  • Review monthly performance and identify areas of risk to achievement of Company targets and forecasts and develop/follow up action plans. Escalate as necessary.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Education

  • Masters degree in business or B. Comm hons in accountancy / Finance and/or Accountancy Qualification
  • Warranted / Chartered Accountant.

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years overall experience, of which 5 years in a Finance Manager. With particular focus on FMCG.
