Financial Controller
Manpower Malta are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of our clients organization and support strategic decision-making.
The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow, and compliance, while driving continuous improvements in financial processes. This is a key role that involves collaborating closely with the senior leadership team to ensure the company's financial stability and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and present financial statements, management reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management.
- Monitor key financial metrics such as cash flow, debt ratios, and works-in-progress (WIP) to support business decisions.
- Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to review operational KPIs and financial performance.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Develop the company's annual budget and long-term financial projections.
- Conduct variance analysis, comparing actual results to budgets and forecasts.
- Provide actionable recommendations to optimize financial performance and achieve business goals.
Cost Management
- Oversee cost allocation across projects and services to ensure profitability.
- Work closely with project managers to track project budgets and ensure cost control.
- Analyse operational costs and propose measures to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
Revenue & Cash Flow Management
- Manage the invoicing process and oversee accounts receivable and payable functions.
- Ensure timely collection of payments and manage credit terms to maintain a healthy cash flow.
- Oversee cash flow forecasting to support operational and project needs.
- Manage banking relationships to ensure the company's financial stability.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws, financial regulations, and company policies.
- Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls to minimize risk.
- Drive process improvements and support the development of financial systems in collaboration with the COO.
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor the finance team to achieve high performance and professional growth.
- Foster cross-departmental collaboration to streamline financial processes and enhance overall efficiency.
- Provide commercial support for tenders and contracts, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) with a warrant or eligibility to practice in Malta.
- Proven experience in the contracting or construction sector, with a deep understanding of project costing and contract accounting.
- Strong knowledge of Maltese Company Law and Tax Regulations.
- Proficiency in using ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
- Experience in managing Work-in-Progress (WIP) valuation and project costing.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with a track record of managing and developing finance teams.
- Strong commercial acumen and business partnering abilities.
- Fluent in English and Maltese (written and spoken).
