Jr Product Owner

As a Junior Product Owner you will work on managing the product backlog with the aim of achieving business goals of the company as well as meeting the priorities of its customers. 

The role is also an integral part in the creation of the same backlog, including working with the Product Owners in analysing requirements and product specifications through which technical and development tasks are created.  Working in a team of Product Owners, and reporting to the Head of Product, you will be a key function between business and technical teams, where language and quality of communication is key.

Key Responsibilities

• Report to the Head of Product and contribute to the planning of work for development teams
• Understand Product Specifications and Requirements and assist developers with understanding them and help answer questions regarding the expected functionality from product.
• Own the product backlogs, and work with other Product Owners to write professional user stories for products that deliver on functionality, defects, and other work items for the team
• Assist the Product Owner in writing product specification documents in clear English, that take into account all business requirements, identify gaps and loopholes, whilst preserving the products quality
• Manage requirements dependencies with other teams, negotiating and prioritising as appropriate
• Facilitate backlog refinement sessions
• Work closely with the delivery manager and development teams to set development/sprint goals
• Work closely with business stakeholders and development teams to implement and get product increments delivered
• Review development against acceptance criteria to determine readiness
• Coordinate sprints, retrospective meetings, and daily stand-ups
• Coordinate between the relevant parties for scheduled releases to ensure all contributors are available, and send out release notes to respective stakeholders
• Help build a productive environment where team members own the product and enjoy working on it

Requirements

• Willingness and energy to learn new things
• Knowledge of agile development environments
• Diploma in Computer Science, Business or similar field
• Experience with agile practices, patterns and techniques is considered an asset
• Experience working with JIRA
• Excellent communication and servant leadership skills
• Problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability
• Outstanding organizational skills
