Purchasing Officer

Job Outline:

Manpower is seeking to recruit a Purchasing Officer who will be responsible for procuring materials, supplies, and services in a cost-effective manner, ensuring the best possible pricing, quality, and conditions. The role involves maintaining optimal stock levels to support the company's daily operations.

General Description

The Purchasing Officer will source and purchase products essential for the company's day-to-day activities. This includes evaluating vendors, negotiating contracts, and preparing procurement reports. The ideal candidate will possess strong market research skills and solid analytical abilities to identify the most profitable and reliable suppliers.
Ultimately, the Purchasing Officer will build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure that all products meet quality standards and are delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research potential vendors, compare, and evaluate offers from various suppliers.

  • Negotiate contract terms and pricing agreements.

  • Track orders and ensure timely delivery of materials and products.

  • Review and assess the quality of purchased goods.

  • Record order details (vendors, quantities, prices, etc.) in internal databases.

  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, deliveries, and invoices.

  • Prepare purchase reports, including cost analyses.

  • Monitor stock levels and place orders as necessary.

  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage and inventory management.

  • Attend trade shows and exhibitions to remain informed about industry trends.

  • Facilitate resolution of supplier complaints and issues.

  • Prepare reports on purchase orders and expenditures.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Officer or in a similar procurement role.

  • Strong knowledge of vendor sourcing and evaluation practices.

  • Hands-on experience using purchasing or ERP software.

  • Good understanding of supply chain management processes.

  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.

  • Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive in problem-solving.

Qualifications

  • A Level standard of education (or equivalent).

  • A professional qualification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to take initiative and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
