Finance Manager
Overview / Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Manager to join a fast-paced international distribution group. Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, the successful candidate will support the financial strategy and operations of distribution and business development units, with a particular focus on markets in East and Central Africa. This position involves both analytical and operational finance duties and requires occasional overseas travel.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with distribution and business development teams to analyse financial performance, assess investment opportunities, and support the preparation of business plans and proposals
- Manage relationships with local and international banks; identify and negotiate trade finance solutions
- Supervise accounting activities across multiple business units and international locations, ensuring timely and accurate financial record-keeping
- Oversee preparation of management accounts and assist with year-end closing procedures
- Provide financial support and mentorship to local finance teams and the Finance Manager of assigned units
- Prepare VAT returns and supply statutory financial information to local authorities and regulatory bodies
- Serve as a liaison with external auditors and service providers
- Maintain visibility over bank balances, receivables, payables, and other financial positions
- Support the design and enhancement of internal control processes and compliance systems
Requirements:
- Recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, Masters in Accountancy, or equivalent MQF Level 7 or higher), either completed or in final stages
- Proven experience in financial analysis, business planning, and evaluation of commercial proposals
- Ability to communicate financial insights clearly to non-financial stakeholders
- Willingness to travel internationally, especially to East and Central African regions
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills
- Strong command of English and confident in financial reporting and presentations
Nice-to-have
- Prior experience in an international group or export-driven business
- Familiarity with distribution, trade finance, and Africa-based operations
- Previous leadership or supervisory exposure across geographically distributed teams
- Knowledge of compliance requirements in multi-jurisdictional contexts
