Job description: Generator Field Technician
Position Overview: Manpower is seeking to recruit Generator Field Technician. This position performs routine scheduled service activities primarily in the field on Gen-Sets or for other commercial engine customers. Specific duties include changing fluids, filters, load bank testing, and advanced troubleshooting of generators at customer site locations.
Key responsibilities:
- Must recognize and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental rules and policies that are applicable to each location.
- Maintain and develop positive professional relationships with existing and potential customers.
- Responsible for submitting accurate field service reports, expense reports, timesheets and other necessary paperwork daily.
- Repairs and maintains electric generators, switchgear, electronic controls, etc.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose customer concerns to determine the most effective or efficient repair using assigned test equipment.
- Installation and commissioning of new power generation packages.
- Operate Company service vehicles and applicable equipment including lift trucks.
- Perform repairs and services on all makes and models of generator sets.
- Inspections, repairs, services and start-up load bank test requirements on equipment.
- Troubleshoots equipment and services generator components including alternators, wiring harnesses safety devices, shutdown switches, and battery systems.
- Applies proper engine technical skills in inspection, disassembly, failure analysis, assembly, diagnosis, and engine operating performance tests.
- Identifies the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps, determine corrective action through inspection of failed parts.
- Maybe requested at times to perform in shop service or repairs on customers equipment when applicable.
- Be available to participate in on call rotation for after hour calls as required.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualification and skills:
- Valid driver's license.
- Possess a well-rounded knowledge of engine, generator, and operations; experience with Ingelsoll Rand would consider an asset.
- Highly motivated and well organized.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Diploma or experience in a relevant field.
