Financial Controller
Financial Controller Role:
On behalf of one of our clients, we are seeking a Financial Controller to join their European Finance team.
This opportunity is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys working in a dynamic, multi‑entity environment and is passionate about delivering insightful financial analysis, robust planning, and high‑quality management reporting across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts for European entities, ensuring accuracy of technical provisions, journal postings, and balance sheet positions.
- Conduct detailed P&L analysis and deliver clear commentary to senior leadership, highlighting trends, drivers, and improvement areas.
- Lead all budgeting and forecasting cycles across the region, coordinating financial plans and producing accurate cash flow projections.
- Develop and maintain meaningful management information and performance reporting that supports strategic decision‑making.
- Carry out regular assessments of premiums, commissions, and reserves, identifying significant variances and recommending adjustments where necessary.
- Work closely with actuarial, underwriting, and claims teams to ensure alignment between operational data, reserving assumptions, and financial outputs.
- Improve FP&A processes by introducing automation, enhancing reporting structures, and optimising the use of existing financial systems.
- Support group-level reporting requirements, ensuring consistency between management accounts, statutory submissions, and audit deliverables.
- Lead, mentor, and support Assistant Financial Controllers across the European region, encouraging professional growth and consistent performance.
- Contribute to building a collaborative, accountable, and forward‑thinking culture within the Finance function.
The Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Minimum part‑qualified ACCA (or equivalent).
- 2–5 years experience in the insurance sector, ideally within FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis), MI (Management Information), reporting, or financial analysis.
- Strong analytical capability with confidence in interpreting financial and operational data.
- Ability to work both independently and within cross‑functional teams.
- Proactive approach to problem‑solving and able to identify issues before they escalate.
- Comfortable with tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex financial information clearly and effectively.
- Naturally curious with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Advanced Excel skills.
