Non Motor - Claims Team Leader

Manpower is seeking to recruit a Claims Team Leader who will be responsible for the daily claims operations of the company including claims management, client claims relationship management, assisting in staff development, management of(re)insurance recoveries and assisting in projecting company image in the Malta insurance market and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a high level of customer service delivery and satisfaction in servicing claims enhancing the group brand/reputation.
  • Adhere to the claims manual and standard process adjusting claims in line with the intent of the policy.
  • Review FNOL against relevant policy schedule, activate claims numbers in the system and notify management of unusual cases.
  • Handle Commercial, Public Liability, Employers Liability, Household and Marine claims.
  • Establish and maintain accurate ultimate loss case reserves.
  • Reviewing claims submission and determining coverage issues.
  • Actively manages large losses to improve competitive margins.
  • Exercise robust cost control measures in line with delegated authorities and internal audit protocols.
  • Provide an effective resource for the execution of Claims Control / Cooperation Clauses when included on the reinsurance business assumed by the Company.
  • Effective assessment of more complex cases and review of adjustors' reports.
  • Preparation of claim File Notes, Large Loss Notifications, and discharge & subrogation Forms.
  • Analyse claims for coverage, causation, and valuation anomalies.
  • Implement claim strategies for each line of business in collaboration with senior management and line underwriters.
  • Appoint external expertise loss adjusters, architects, engineers, and layers on claims in consultation with claims manager.
  • Maintain accurate claims data in systems.
  • Identify potential recovery at the outset of claims and send holding letters to identified negligent parties.
  • Review of final claims submissions before recommendation for payment.
  • In the event of claim, work with the Company's reinsurers claims counterparts to assure good communication, documentation flow and a smooth recovery process.
  • Assist in policy wording review based on claims experience.
  • Participate in monthly claims reviewing process.
  • Investigating further on potentially fraudulent claims.
  • Liaising with Brokers and TIIs on claim-related matters.
  • Preparing declinature letters on claims falling out of coverage in consultation with claims manager.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Senior management or the Core team.

  • Maintain and develop personal knowledge and skills through continued professional
  • development.
  • Ensure knowledge is up to date with local and international laws and regulations that affect
  • the insurance claims environment and report such developments to the senior
  • management.
  • Assist Senior Management with claims audits.
  • Quality assurance management.
  • Handle a portfolio of recovery files.
  • Liaise with other departmental heads as required.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in handling commercial claims or a related area, and proven skills in leading and managing a team.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to inspire, guide, and help team members grow, and effectively assign tasks and duties.
  • Skill in processing commercial insurance claims, with a good understanding of policy coverage, determining liability, and investigating claims.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication abilities, with the skill to interact well with team members, clients, and stakeholders, and explain complex information clearly.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions, with the skill to analyse situations, find solutions, and implement effective strategies to resolve issues and improve the efficiency of claims handling.
  • Having professional insurance training or relevant degree studies would be considered an advantage for this position.
