Production Manager
Job Description
Manpower is seeking to recruit a Production Manager, to manage the production department, ensuring an optimal organisation of the production activities, maximising human resources potential and machinery output, so as to meet work orders within the specified time frames, complying with quality, safety and environmental rules and regulations
Assignment Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. People Management
· To lead, direct and manage all the production employees
· To ensure the right human capacity at all times so as to meet work orders within time frames
· To identify vacancies and participate in selection and recruitment interviews
· To train and coach Shift Leaders
· To set targets and work objectives for Shift leaders
· To draft work procedures and train the team accordingly
· To monitor individual and team performance and achievements
· To give regular performance feedback
· To organise shift work, with the support of direct collaborators, ensuring the necessary manpower
· To ensure daily organisation of shifts
· To ensure monitoring of absenteeism
B. Production Activities
· To manage the production activities so as to achieve the specified objectives, in compliance with the applicable time, cost, quality, safety and environmental requirements
· To monitor daily results and their respective performance indicators
· To check the production’s progress status and take the necessary corrective actions, if any, with the support of direct collaborators.
· To optimize the internal logistics related to production
· To evaluate on daily basis the contents of the production FLL and KPI handover logbook,
highlighting any deviation and identifying corrective actions
· To inspect the production sites ensuring orderliness and cleanliness at all times the status of the FLLs on the performance level found
· To intervene in the case of production stoppages or bad quality of products
C. Health, Safety and Environment
· To assure compliance with health, safety and environment rules and regulations
· To guarantee the application of the Company’s Directives and of the provisions of the law on these matters in the Production Department
· To propose, in cooperation with HSE Manager, improvements to plants and procedures that might result in a greater safety
· To attend training courses on Safety, Quality and Environment
D. Process Technologist and Production Planner
· To request, when necessary, the cooperation from the Process Technologist and from the Production
Planner
· To collaborate with Production Planner for activities falling under his competencies in respect of the following duties:
a) To supervise the provisioning activities necessary to operate the plants and to keep them effective
b) To supervise the production planning and scheduling activities
c) To propose implementation of new technologies methods and organisation solutions suitable for improving productivity and quality as well as reducing production costs
d) To submit periodically the existing production methods to a critical revision and recommending changes to the existing procedures and plants to achieve a continual improvement, in accordance with the Company’s procedures and the GMP standards
e) To evaluate any proposals for changes in terms of product, process and equipment
· To ensure that FLLs adhere with plans
E. Documentation
· To generate and review quality production procedures (SOPs), with the support of collaborators
· To review and approve production validation protocols and reports within own competence
· To issue operating instructions and working sheets, to approve and distribute them with the support of the documentation Manager
· To ensure that operating instructions and working sheets are modified in accordance with the flow described in the change control procedures
· To review all working sheets, with the support of own structure, in order for them to be complete and signed
· To make sure that documentation issues in relation to production activities are manages according to the applicable SOPs
· To guarantee, with the support of direct collaborators, the collection and processing of the necessary information to calculate production costs, with a special reference to;
a) Outputs
b) Raw materials (quantities used)
c) Machinery/Equipment (hours spent)
d) Manpower (hours spent)
F. Finance
· To manage production cost center
· To define respective annual budget
· To monitor and report outcomes in ERP
· To process requests for investment as a function of the plant requirements, with an aim of improving
· Health, safety and environment, quality and productivity issues for premises, equipment, processes and products
G. Others
· To evaluate and foster professional development of reports
· To identify suitable reports for the different production activities
· To propose improvements on the management processes for the activities falling under own responsibility
· To hold periodical meetings with the QA and QP managers to make sure that GMP standards are full conformed to in production
· To ensure that critical deviations to the above and to any part of the production are investigated and findings are recorded
· To manage deviations to the above
